Brunch Review: W Hong Kong at KITCHEN restaurant

Sundays are for bubbles and seafood

We’re not sure why, but Sundays tend to offer the most indulgent brunches around. Take W Hong Kong, for example. On Saturdays they have a Saturday is Family Day brunch, but on Sundays they push the indulgence limit further with their Bubbly Seafood Sunday brunch.

Bring on the oysters and champagne!

After a long week of trying to eat clean(er) and exercise well, sometimes it’s nice to be naughty and eat a day’s worth of calories in a single sitting. And at the W's Sunday brunch, it’s really easy to do just this.

In addition to oysters and free-flow Veuve Clicquot (yellow label), you’ll find:

  • Drinks: coffee, tea, Bloody Marys, sangria, wine, beer, fresh juices, detox smoothies

  • Seafood: lobster, crab, mussels, caviar, seafood salad (scallop, shrimp, squid, lobster, papaya), smoked salmon

  • Sushi station: an assortment of maki, nigiri and sashimi

  • Salad and cheese bar: beetroot, roasted corn, roasted pumpkin, broccoli with ginger, stir-fried kale, fondue

  • Hot food section: lobster eggs Benedict, seafood linguine, shrimp and black mussels in saffron bisque, hanger steak, foie gras

  • Carving station: prime rib, suckling pig, rack of lamb

  • Hong Kong favourites: Chinese BBQ, dim sum, made-to-order noodles

  • Dessert bar: yuzu milk chocolate tart, Earl Grey mousse, churros, chocolate fountain

...just to name a few of the items.

So many options, such (sadly) limited stomach space. We ate multiple plates to our heart's content (we loved the foie gras, seafood salad, fondue and yuzu milk chocolate tart) but feel like we had barely scratched the surface of what was on offer. All this to say we think there will be something for even the pickiest of eaters out there.

In our opinion, the food is enough of a draw, but it’s worth mentioning that while the W's Sunday brunch has always been renowned for its fresh seafood and quality food choices, it's been revamped with a charming Alice in Wonderland theme. The decor around the buffet is meant to evoke the feeling of a luxurious Mad Hatter's tea party.

Verdict

Next time you’re in the mood to indulge, we’d recommend checking out the W's Bubbly Seafood Sunday brunch (12–3pm). With its stylish setting and top-class spread, it’s an ideal spot to celebrate the weekend and rest up for a new week ahead. Prices: $828 per adult, with free-flow champagne, wine, beer and cocktails; $414 per child, with soft drinks only
