Waiting for Departure, With God’s ‘Ticket’ in Hand

Christian graphic on Galatians by Jenni Lien of The Yay Project

As I was praying this morning, I felt God remind me of the feeling I get when I’m in an airport.

New adventures, new people to meet, new experiences — yay!

How do you feel when you’re in an airport?

Airports have always been one of my favourite places. Even the trip from home to the airport. I get so stirred - new adventures, people to meet, experiences… yay! As I was praying this morning, I felt God remind me of this feeling.

“You’re waiting for your flight to take off. As you wait, you can enjoy the time as you move closer to your gate. You already have the ticket (my promises will come true) - you will reach your destination! So don’t stress during the waiting. I’ve given you resources to enjoy this time - you can get your favourite meal, grab your favourite drink, even a splurge on a new book. Remember you’re in my plan, child. I gave you your passport. I prepared the ticket and organized the trip. I know you like surprises. Surrender again and trust me.”

When I woke up this morning, I felt a heart check about a few things. Sometimes we let things into our lives that aren’t bad (they can be good!) but we can allow to take up too much space. I spent extra time praying, confessing, seeking, repenting and asking God for help wanting what he wants. Then I felt him give me the above - not exactly what I prayed but the bigger picture reminder I needed (isn’t it so true God knows what we truly need at any given moment!).

Today I’m declaring afresh that God’s best (including timing!) is best for me.

I think whenever I see God answering other prayers, especially shortly after I’ve prayed them, which he has been so merciful to do, I’m reminded and filled with more hope that of course God *is* in control, hears all, will deliver in his perfect way and timing. Of course his way is best!! I will wait. Lord, help me to wait.

Drop a ❤️❤️ if you can relate today. Let’s spend extra time in praise and worship to our King of Kings. He’s got us, no ifs ands or buts. What better way to spend our time than in his presence, giving him all the glory due his name. 🎉
