Power Praise Parties at Home
After falling in love with God, I realised I didn’t need other people to have a worship session. Communal worship is a wonderful thing of course but God + me (or God + you) is also a recipe for a great time. It took some getting used to but now, being before the Lord and crying out to him, praising his good name, asking for his help, dancing undignified (thanks David for making this cool; 2 Samuel 6:22) at home is so much fun. God’s reminded me that we can have ‘Power Praise Parties’ at home together for some time but it feels like an especially good reminder now.
Here are some of my prayers from my party this morning:
God, we seek your face! Your beauty, your power, your strength, your goodness. Reign in us, this situation, over all the earth.
Lord, we ask you to release more of your glory! We want a greater outpouring of your Spirit! (Luke 11:13)
We recognise that the situation we’re facing is serious. We don’t downplay that but we know you are mightier. Have mercy on us, Lord God. Heal our land and move more and more greatly in our midst. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Thank you, thank you for hearing our cries, answering our prayers, and watching over us.
Lord, I pray we don’t see you as an angry, faraway God who is letting bad things happen. We know you are loving, reigning, have a plan and are so, so good. (Psalm 34:8)
Help us to focus on your face, Lord, to hear you when you are speaking. To be comforted by you. To be bold through and for you. (Psalm 16:11)
There is power in praise! There is power in trusting God and having faith in him. Let’s continue to seek his face.
