Obeying the Holy Spirit and Trusting God With the Rest

Since the Bible is the word of God, I think I’ve long been slightly intimidated by it. But in this season, I think God is showing it to me from new angles. Today I read Acts 1 like I would a non-fiction book. Before reading it, my NLT Study Bible provided context on the author, place and date of writing, intended recipients, etc. and it gave me a fresh realization that the apostles literally saw Jesus face to face for years and then he was gone! Man, how they must have missed him! Since we’ve never seen Jesus, I guess we don’t miss him per se but we long for him, right? I can’t wait to fall down and worship him, in front of him. (Also random thought but sometimes I wonder if Jesus will give hugs … like Mark 10:16 when he hugged the children! I hope so.)⁣

Anyway, I highlighted a lot of this chapter but as I went to pray afterwards I felt the Holy Spirit emphasizing v.8 by reminding me of lyrics (as he often does):⁣ ⁣ *Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing, I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus (Nobody - Casting Crowns ft. Matthew West)⁣ ⁣ *But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)⁣

As we read / study / meditate on the Bible and grow in relationship with God, I pray we grow bolder (like Paul!) and tell people about him everywhere with no self-inflicted hindrances (e.g. fear of judgement). Not everyone will understand (the commentary on Acts 1:14 reminded me that Jesus’s own brothers didn’t believe in him during his ministry, only becoming his disciples after his resurrection) but we can glorify God by obeying the Holy Spirit’s leading and trusting him to handle the rest. ⁣ ⁣ Lord, I want the fullness of your Spirit. Please help me to complete with faithfulness the work you’ve set out for me to do. I want truly want to live for the world to see nobody but you. ❤️⁣ ⁣ #theyayproject
