How I'm Praying for Hong Kong

Bible verse photo by Jenni Lien of The Yay Project

As I was praying this morning (after half heartedly browsing Pinterest for half an hour, pinning encouraging verses, avoiding feelings...), I felt we must fight ... fight against avoidance, fear, numbness, apathy ... and pray for God’s help, wisdom, peace, mercy to reign down. For Christians to call out to our Father and pray / act / support as he leads. God will lead and comfort us if we ask him to and if we let him.

He has not abandoned us.

He never would.

He never will.

I believe he understands and is heartbroken too.

May these circumstances draw us closer to him.

God is good and just, we need his help, and can trust all is in his hands. Though we may feel like just one person sometimes, we are soldiers of Jesus. Let’s show him we’re willing to fight. And remember that nothing is too big for God to handle ... he has never lost a battle and he has already won the war. Wherever you are, thank you for praying alongside us here in Hong Kong. Every prayer matters. Let’s keep warfaring, declaring truth, speaking hope. #prayforhongkong

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. - Zephaniah 3:17 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. - Ephesians 6:12 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. - 2 Timothy 2:3 Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. - Hebrews 10:22-23
