Seeing God Everywere
“I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart, I will enter His courts with praise. I will say this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice for He has made me glad.” (He Has Made Me Glad - The Maranatha! Singers)
Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy … Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. (Psalm 100: 1, 4)
Pin for later!
It’s been a ‘I sense God everywhere’ kind of morning. After making a big cup of coffee (of course, coffee … have considered switching to tea but …), I prayed a bit, finished the rest of 1 John, read through my Bible In One Year (BIOY) verses, and journaled. And then marvelled.
Someone spoke 1 John 4:4 (“… the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world) over me a few weeks ago, during one of the most powerful God moments of my current season. I knew it was in line with God’s character so didn’t think more of it. But indeed it is a verse, one that I am very glad to now know. (Post note: AND it was in the Hazy Faith sermon I watched later that day!)
Honestly I was considering ‘working’ (finishing setting up a Pinterest account for Yay lol) before doing my quiet time this morning. Because I was on a roll last night and wanted to finish up. But after a brief pause I decided to choose God first … and am so glad I did because the Psalm assigned for BIOY was Psalm 119:145-152 which included v. 147 “I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word” and the commentary was “it’s vital to meet with God before your day starts.” Yes and amen, God. Phew. I write this not to pat myself on the back but to hopefully encourage us all to CHOOSE GOD FIRST. We have so many temptations each day to put things before God, with many seemingly small and harmless. It could be Netflix, socialising, video games, whatever. These things aren’t bad of course but if they’re at the expense of time with God, then maybe a check is needed.
The BIOY NT verses assigned today were Hebrews 4:11-13. V. 12 gave me pause “ … For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Ooof. So, so good. I feel this has been the theme of what God wanted to teach me this week. To soak in and spend time in His word because He can and will use it to work out wrong things in our hearts. Not in a bad way, in a daily upkeep kind of way.
After all this, I was starting to feel a little spent when God nudged me to not be weary. To take heart in His good plan and trust He is working. More prayer time and two more cups of coffee later, I felt The Maranatha! Singers song above flood in. My heart is full.
Some days, I think God speaks specifically on one or two matters. Other days, I feel scattered because I sense God everywhere! I’m reminded of how he worked two weeks ago, last year, last night, and in the present … and my trust is His goodness is restrengthened. At times, we can feel God so strongly. Other times, we don’t feel him at all. But we can trust that in all things He is working for our good and that His eyes are always on us. Lord, thank you for making this day, this weekend. May we seek you with all our hearts, appreciate the days you’ve given us and rejoice for / have fun with you for you truly make us glad. #theyayproject
