Why We Should Forget About Having It All Together

The Yay Project by Jenni Lien

In this journey of walking with God, I’ve stopped pretending to have it all together.

In my teens and my twenties, I’d withdraw and pretend to be aloof and mysterious. Maybe if I looked like I had it all together, people would think I did. But what did that result in? For one thing, a lack of emotional growth! We can’t mature if we don’t admit to and deal with what’s really going on.

This morning I thought “Hmm do I really want to be honest today? Will it seem like another post about waiting?” But God does so much in the waiting, maybe especially if we wholly wait on him.

I woke up with a lot of questions. Then asked God to give me a song so I could soak in bed for a bit before getting up. He reminded me of “Song in my Soul” by Phil Wickham.

“There's a hope in my heart burning bright in the darkness. This I know for sure. That I will look upon Your face, forever dwell in Your presence. And all I sing to You.”

If you’re waiting on something today, may we remember that the waiting period is always easiest when we focus on God, his character, his face. We know this, but it can still take time for us to push away wrong emotions and focus on truth.

As I was praying and waiting and asking God questions, I felt him say:

“Everything I allow to happen, I have plans to use it for good. Don’t think for a second that your life now is as good as it’s every going to get. Oh what treasures I have in store for those who seek me! Each day you seek me, progress is being made. Remember who I am, my ways, my rules.”

Then he reminded me of the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13) and v. 8 stood out:

*But others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times as much.

“What is your crop going to yield?”

Let’s draw near to God, pour out and always ask him to refine, clarify and redirect us. May we always love to be in his refining fire and connect with him - knowing he loves to connect with us too.

“I love you, child. I want you to love with this at the core of your being today and everyday. Fix your gaze on me and leave it there. Trust good things are coming for those who wait on me, their Lord. Be embraced by my love, it’s pouring out. Let me love you lavishly. Open up to me, enjoy my presence, embrace my love today.”

Drop a ❤️❤️❤️ if you want to be all about embracing God’s love today.
