Following God's Will Above All
“How now shall we live? Let the Holy Spirit speak to you.” - Pastor Sam, @solomonsporchhk
This weekend, my church celebrated 17 years. Two Korean-Americans from California followed God’s calling to Hong Kong and now there are six locations including in Singapore, Tokyo and New York. Each location isn’t huge but is a testament of going when God says go. I visited other churches before coming to SP (as we call it). But my first Sunday, the Holy Spirit met me powerfully and I knew that I knew that I knew this was the church for me. There was an honest, refreshing ‘this is what the Bible says so do it’ vibe to the sermons so I knew that attending this church meant I would be honest before God too. The things I was avoiding dealing with ... I’d deal with them here. Our senior pastor, Pastor Sam, regularly says “Let the Holy Spirit speak to you” and sometimes I jokingly say it conversation ... jokingly because it’s kind of an intense thing to say but my friends know the context ... and anyway I mean it. It’s such a good thing to be reminded of. To seek God above all. Today’s sermon reminded us that we are in the midst of an opportunity. When we praise God when things are good, it’s called praise. When we do it when things are tough, it’s faith. During times like the coronavirus, of course Christians want to protect themselves and their loved ones. But will we be just like the world and give into hoarding and isolation? Or will we share what we have and still pray, serve, care for others? To further emphasize this point, P. Sam brought up a time when Loren Cunningham, the founder of @ywam_org came to speak with him and his team, and had these 3 tips on decision making: 1. Is it God’s will? 2. Is it God’s will for us? 3. Then get it done.
May we seek God’s will and do it! And be more afraid of disobeying God than anything in this world. ❤️ #theyayproject
